Rev. Troy Denson was raised in a God-Fearing family. His mother was a Sunday School Teacher, and his father was a Deacon and Minister. Although, for a season of Rev. Denson’s young-adult years, he was a "prodigal son", he heard the word of God in Jeremiah 29:11, saying, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

 

Rev. Troy Denson received the Lord's salvation and accepted his call to preach in 1996, and preached his first sermon and was licensed at Greater Tree Mount Temple Baptist Church, in San Antonio, Texas. Later, Rev. Denson was ordained at Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas, under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. Ricky D. Shaw.


Pastoral Works:
Being a licensed/ordained minister for more than 21 years, Rev. Denson has been the pastor of two churches: “Oracles of Christ Ministries” a fellowship/bible study group (2004 – 2007); and later after attending the seminary, he served a one-year appointment at New Zion United Methodist Church in Cordova, Maryland (2011). Under Rev. Denson's leadership, New Zion UM Church increased in attendance, ministries, community outreach, and financial standing. Currently, Rev. Troy Denson and his family, serve as Associate Ministers in Family Ministry, under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. Winston C. Ridley, Jr., at The Greater First Baptist Church of Washington, DC.


Community Works:
Previously, Rev. Denson served as a Clergy & Congregation Executive Consultant
within the United Baptist Missionary Convention of the State of Maryland; where he catechized and led in the ordination of Baptist ministers; preached abroad; and served as an advisor to pastors in their annual installations of officers, strategic plans, and churches’ visions. He also served as the incumbent chairman of the United Baptist Bible College & Seminary of Baltimore, Maryland. Additionally, Rev. Denson also serves as the 1 st Vice Chair of the Religious Affairs Committee of the NAACP of Maryland.


Academically:
Rev. Denson received a Bachelor of Science in Ministry from Southern Christian University in Alabama (2002); a Master of Theological Studies from Wesley Theological Seminary (2008); a Master of Education in Administration, with  distinction from American Public University in Charlestown, West Virginia (2011); a Master of Divinity from Howard University in Washington, DC (2011); and currently Rev. Denson studies at Boston University - School of Theology towards a Doctor of Ministry in Transformational Leadership.

 

 

Occupationally:

Rev. Troy Denson has served as a secondary math classroom teacher and college faculty in education – collectively for over 15 years. Additionally, Rev. Denson has authored two (2) books which are available on Amazon: "Globalization: Through the Eyes of Suffering Children", and "Churchin': The Acts of the Apostles Workbook" - Volumes 1, 2, & 3. Rev.
Denson also contributes his research to academic and religious journals and posts
his notable sermons to  Sermon Central . Rev. Denson distributes the gospel of Christ, both verbally and in writing because he believes that "Only what you do for
Christ will last".


Family Man:
Last but not least, after 20 years of ministry - Rev. Denson views the greatest ministry that he has ever been called to serve has been that of being a faithful husband unto his wife, Rev. Theresa M. Denson, and being a loving father for his sons, Storee Denson, who is 8 years old; and Troy Denson, Jr, who is a licensed minister and is 20 years old.


Favorite Scripture:
Rev. Troy Denson's favorite scripture which awakens him to the "word" and
"prayer" unto God early each morning comes from St. John 15:7, which says, "If
you abide in me, and my word abides in you, you can ask what you will and it will
be done unto you".
