Reverend Theresa M. Denson is a native of Queens, New York. She accepted salvation at the age of twelve, and was baptized at St. Luke Baptist Church in Laurelton, New York, under the leadership of the Late Rev. Roy L. Gilmore. She
is a woman of worship after God’s own heart and is known for her grace, commitment, compassion and love for family. Rev. Denson currently serves as an Associate Minister at The Greater First Baptist Church in Washington, DC, under
the leadership of Rev. Dr. Winston C. Ridley, Jr., Pastor.

Rev. Denson received her call to ministry as a young adult, and with full surrender she answered the call to preach in 2003. She finds great passion and profound joy in preaching and teaching the Gospel. “Who will go for us? Here I am Lord, send me…” is a living testimony and is reflected in the witness of Rev. Denson. She was licensed to preach in 2007; she was ordained as deacon in April 2012; and became an ordained clergy in April 2015. Rev. Denson is a gifted preacher, teacher and role model for reaching children and women. She has a passionate heart for seeing that children and women reach their full potential in Christ. Rev. Denson has offered her ministerial gift of teaching and has  extensively taught in the Christian Education Departments in the African Methodist Episcopal and Baptist Churches. Some of Rev. Denson’s instruction included but were not limited to ‘Through the Bible in One Year’ class; ‘The Study of the Jewish Tabernacle’; and Women’s Bible Study. She has served in various ministries, such as Director of
Creative Arts/Liturgical Dance Ministry (consisting of youth, women and men of all ages); written ‘Playwrights’, and ‘Spoken Word’. She also has served as a facilitator at several conferences: Women’s Ministry, Finance, Church Leadership, and HIV/AIDS Conferences. Her concerns are for the marginalized and disenfranchised in our society. She believes the Church must be the strong voice for the community in which it dwells…to empower God’s people by teaching, equipping and doing the ministry of Matthew 25:35-40…

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,   I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’   “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ (NIV)

Rev. Denson is fully prepared in both head and heart. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences with a concentration in Organizational Behavior and Communication from New York University. She received a Master of Divinity degree from Wesley Theological Seminary, where she was the former President of the Association of Black Seminarians; and she served as a student Chaplain at The National Children’s Hospital in Washington, DC. Rev. Denson is currently studying at Boston University School of Theology in the Doctor of Ministry in Transformation Leadership program. She has focused her research on leadership, pastoral care/Sabbath-keeping, and practical theology, and is a 2019 candidate. She co-authored three workbooks with her husband, titled “Churchin’: The Acts of the Apostles Workbook”, Volumes 1-3. Rev. Denson is an active member of the Baptist Ministers’ Wives and Widows Association of Washington, DC & Vicinity, Inc.

She is grateful for the favor of God in her corporate career in investment banking for over 15 years at JPMorgan Chase, New York Headquarters. Currently, she works in the Corporate Responsibility/Global Engagement Group at JPMC,
Washington, DC office. Rev. Denson believes if there are people in any institution, then there is an opportunity to minister in various ways and give glory to God.

Rev. Denson continually gives God all the praise, honor and glory for the opportunity to be a humble servant unto The Lord, a loving mother, wife and co- laborer in ministry with her husband, Rev. Troy Denson. The Denson’s reside in
Accokeek, Maryland with their youngest son, Storeē Nathaniel, and they share two amazing young adult sons, Jim and TJ.
